When can I take a shower after shoulder replacement?

Usually a plastic protective dressing is applied to the wound to cover the staples and incision on the first post-op day. This helps to keep the wound dry and clean. You may shower once this dressing is in place. You may not go into a pool, bath, hot tub, or the ocean until you have been advised to do so.
